In 2003, I was asked to create a multimedia presentation on the history of performance art for Walker's Point Center For the Arts. Putting the piece together I happened upon a photograph of the German Dadaist, Hugo Ball in his "futuristic lobster" outfit. I had seen it before, but I couldn't remember where. Then it hit me like DMT: it was the same photography I found "according to the laws of chance" in the State University libary 23 years earlier!
I was shocked, the similarity between Hugo Ball's futuristic lobster outfit and nonsense poem peformance to my starship trooper butterfly costume and multimedia peformance art was amazing. It was like finding a long lost relative, tipped off by book written by a guy with my last name!
Looking back at my achievments like a sandwich, I simply took bigger & bigger bites. I did not get discouraged, once I mastered a skill, I went on to the next until I transformed myself from a sad puppy-eyed learning disabled dyslexic daydreamer into a mothman from outerspace with a giant laser-cock encapsulated in a psychedelic screaming daydreaming wave-space of imagaination.
